Popaholics beware!

My husband has a golf ball size lipoma.

To normal people this is no big deal.

Of course, it is exciting for us popaholics, fans of Dr. Sandra Lee aka Dr. Pimple Popper.

I sent my husband off to the dermatologist, excited to get an appointment for the office procedure I could watch.

He returned from the appointment with a referral to a general surgeon!

I called the dermatologist office.

Me:  "Why does this lipoma requires general surgery with a plastic surgeon to remove?"

Nurse: "It is too big." (They estimate it is 4cm by 6cm. It is pliable and near the surface.)

Me: [in shock] "Too big?! Dr. Sandra Lee has taken out bowling ball sized lipomas in the office! Did you see that chicken cutlet she removed from that woman's arm?"

Nurse: "Who?"

Me: "You know, Dr. Pimple Popper"

Nurse: "Oh...She's a general doc"

Me: [What? Um no!]

Nurse: "You can call your primary care doc to do it in the office."

Me: [Our PCP retired 2 years ago. There aren't too many available. We use urgent care.]

So here we are. At the hospital.

Get up in the middle of the night, gown, IV, no eating after midnight, gonna-knock-him-out (expensive) surgery. For a golf ball size lipoma.

And of course, I don't get to watch!

Dr. Lee is even more special than we already knew!
