In doing so, I thought I would also log some of the books from my childhood. My kids, neices, and nephews are enjoying them too!
Here are some wonderful books from my childhood that my kids are enjoying too. Thanks for saving them, Mom!
There are also some that we had once upon a time but no longer have, possibly due to a basement water problem back home. So these (*) are on our wish list!
- Little Mommy (Little Golden Book) by Sharon Kane (1967; reissued 2008)
- Andrew Henry's Meadow by Doris Burns (1965; reissued 2005)
- Beth's Happy day (Right Start Junior Elf book) by Phyllis Ochocki & Patti Fenwick (1966)
- A Visit to the Doctor by Knute Berger & Robert A. Tidwell (1960). This originally belonged to mom's cousins, Tim Boshart and Linda Boshart that I'm sure we inherited.
- A Visit To the Dentist by Lucille Wallace (1959). This originally belonged to cousins, Tim and Linda also. Their names are inscribed in the front of the books.
- A Visit to the Hospital* (Wonder Books) by Francine Chase, Ken Rossi, Flanders Dunbar (1958). Probably came from Tim and Linda but we don't have it anymore.
- I help too by Alma May Scarborough (1961).
- We Help Daddy (Little Golden Books) by Mini Stein & Eloise Wilkin (1962)
- We Help Mommy* (Little Golden Book) by Jean Cushman & Eloise Wilkin (1959; reissued 1986). Okay, we never had this book, but if you have the "We Help Daddy" book it seems like you should have this one in the collection too, especially since Elioise Wilkin's books are so popular and this title is often confused with my favorite book "Little Mommy" by Sharon Kane.
- What's for Lunch, Charley? by Margaret Hodges & ALIKI (1961, 1971). Soon after we unearthed all the old books at mom and dad's I realized this one was missing. Within weeks it magically appeared at one of the thrift stores so we have it again!
- The Little China Pig* (Rand McNally Little Elf Book) by Dorothy Dickens Rawls & Vivienne Blake (1960)
